about
how do you even begin something like this?

my name is danielle king, my hometown is miami, fl, and i’m an amateur web designer/photographer. really, i’m a budding political scientist with a longstanding interest in design, photography & the internet. as far as the web is concerned, i’ve been dabbling since the sixth grade.
i graduated from the university of miami in june of 2008, and then took an AmeriCorps intership at a non-profit in miami for a year. i’m currently attending the university of florida in gainesville to get my PhD in political science. politics are in fact my life’s passion, and yes, i did support barack obama for president.
this website has been in existence for a while, since august of 2007 (see first posts here and here). that feels like ages ago, but i’ve learned a lot about the world, blogging and myself since then.
now, since this page is taking on a bit of an awkwardly earnest attitude, i present a list i wrote a while back…
things about the Author (that are of no consequence)
1- i like orange juice.
1a- breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, but i eat it maybe once a week.
2- i watch movies or tv shows and hear songs that i think i like, and listen for snippets of the lyrics so that i can google them and download the band’s entire discography.
3- i have never been able to pick a clear favorite between digital and analog watches.
4- every significant change in my height has resulted in a change in my handwriting style. it would appear that i’m done getting taller.
5- i’m a fidgeter.
6- “finding forrester” may well be my favorite movie of all time. it’s about books and education. c’mon, what else could i ask for.
7- most of my wardrobe is inexplicably black, grey or brown. i say it’s inexplicable because it’s not like i planned it or anything.
8- i cannot remember the last time i left my house without a notebook + a pen.
9- there needs to be more tweed and houndstooth in my closet. well, i don’t have a closet, but yeah.
10- on a certain level, i’m a professional amateur at almost everything.
11- for a person obsessed with order and organization, i lose more stuff than anyone i know.
12- i’m actually incapable of writing in cursive.
13- my magic number of tattoos will be 7 (by the time i am 30).
14- i have an unhealthy relationship with a) my macbook pro; b) wikipedia; c) twitter; d) dictionaries; & e) books in general (specifically, with buying them).
15- after several months of thinking about it, the animal i most identify with is the jellyfish, because they have one orifice that acts as both mouth and anus.
16- my worst quality is my tendency to admit that i have a crippling fear of rejection.
17- sometimes i have involuntary insomnia that only i seem to be aware of…and by sometimes, i mean on about five out of seven nights a week, i cannot fall asleep without chemical assistance.
18- my great dream is to be sydney bristow from the tv show alias, as played by jennifer garner. minus the whole in-love-with-vaughn thing. ew.
19- the best pair of shoes i have ever owned are a pair of black leather converse all-stars, hi-tops with black laces beige-on-black side patches.
20-i constantly make poor choices.
21- one of the things i love most in this world is taking pictures.
22- despite a deep love of words, i just cannot get behind crosswords. i even watched the documentary wordplay. still, nothing. good movie, though.
23- my iphone is an extension of my brain.
24- i hate to go shopping, unless i’m a little wasted (but that is pretty much true of almost all the things i really don’t like to do, including the dishes).
25- before i die (or really, by age 45) i want to be able to speak the following languages fluently (since i’m an aspiring polyglot): arabic, amharic, dutch, french (halfway there), spanish (getting started), portuguese, greek, latin, hebrew, hindi
bonus- i’m a liberal Christian lesbian. what up, jay bakker!!!
